Why did you decide to serve the mission at Farm of the Child?

After graduating with my Nurse Practitioner degree, I began to realize that the jobs I was exploring did not seem to be a good fit for me, and I was at a point in my life where I could make a change. When I found out about the Farm of the Child, the mission grabbed me right away. Providing medical care for the children at the Farm and the people of the surrounding villages, while learning Spanish and becoming a part of the Latin American culture sounded like an amazing opportunity. More than that however, I loved the idea of being able to live simply with these people, in a supportive, faith-filled community, united by the mission of loving God through the people of Honduras.

What do you hope to experience through your ministry at Farm of the Child?

I know that this upcoming mission will bring both blessings and challenges. I hope to serve the children and families of Honduras through using the gifts I have been given, and I also cannot wait to learn so much from these beautiful people and the other missionaries in my community.

What are you most excited about/nervous for as you prepare to arrive at the Farm?

I am so excited to meet the children at the Farm and the people who live nearby, and to form relationships with them, but at the same time I am nervous that I may have a lot of trouble communicating with them in the beginning because of the language barrier. However, I am excited to improve my Spanish and to dive into work and life at the Farm! Living so close to a gorgeous beach is an added bonus!
